The XX shot for Q magazine at Terminal 5 in New York. I had full access shooting during sound check in the afternoon, then shortly after shot these images in the middle of the venue, with a mix of flash and existing stage lights.
The Darkness is back! I last shot them 8 years ago. We shot in the French Quarter a few hours before their show in New Orleans. I hired a horse drawn carriage because I thought it suits them. We used the carriage to get around also. I rented instruments from a local music store, but ended up asking jazz musicians on the street also to lend us their instruments. Some of the musicians assumed the roles of traffic coordinators.
I shot the key art for NBC's new drama "Do No Harm" with Steven Pasquale (of "Rescue Me"). He plays a doctor with a dangerous alter ego. Steven had little time in between filming on location in Philadelphia. The main poster image was shot in camera, the image on his hands was shot just minutes earlier, then fed to a projector to do the double image illustrating the character's split personality.
To illustrate an article in the New York Times Sunday magazine about new apps that enable people to play instruments on their i pad or i phone on the go, we gathered some 50 musicians one Sunday morning at Astor Place. The result was loud.
